Message	repaired with heli-coils. Thanks for the concerns and suggestions. For future searches: I used a M8 1.25 tread repair kit for both the coil pack mount and balance tube mount holes. The instructions say to first drill out old/damaged threads with 21/64 drill bit. I started with two sizes smaller then that and gradually opened up the hole by stepping up a size at a time. I went very slow because like littleElvis said the aluminum is very soft and the drill bit will want to grab and screw into the hole which if done too fast can break off the boss. Lots of slow forward and reverse of the drill bit. Everything after that is straight forward and simple.
